	Wards work similarly to shields, except instead of using an energy field to disrupt psionic energy, they use psionic broadcasts to discourage the approach of a certain type of psionic pattern. Like sound-waves, psionic-waves can be canceled by the inversion of the frequency. Many things put off some psionic waves, especially things associated with the human mind and psyche (such as fear, love, evil, et all). Wards require that the psion creating the effect have the pattern of the desired thing to be blocked, so that the counter frequency can be broadcast. The more particular a ward, the better it works. A ward against psionics, as a grand whole, is less effective then a ward against a particular ability.
