These little ones have had their first shed, and will be ready to go as soon as they've eaten 3 meals (probably around 3 weeks). I'm taking reservations now, if anyone is looking for a ball python pet or breeder. Prices are listed on the website, and start at $25 for a normal colored male.

More babies will be available for reservation in about a week.

Shipping is available through Reptster FedEx Overnight, and usually runs from $35 to $65 depending on the distance. Shipping to continental US only.

Damn it, what's the use of being a psychic if your parents won't let you do anything?

Stupid thirteen years old, anyway...

Terrifying beasts, they are:

Here's a 1-year-old male Lesser Platinum, big enough to breed this season:

And one of my fully grown adult breeder females:
http://eclipseexotics.wingedwolfpsion.com/images/Yemaya3.jpg

As you can see, they are perfectly capable of eating an adult human, provided said human is chopped up into medium-rat-sized chunks.
;)

Males get about 3 to 4 feet long, females 4 to 5 feet, with around 6 feet being the absolute maximum. They are heavy-bodied, quite slow, and generally very docile and calm. They do have special needs--a secure cage, about the size of a 20 gallon long tank (though some lighter plastic reptile cages can be easier to maintain), and thermostat-controlled heat can be a bit of an investment (expect to put down perhaps $150.00 for something that looks nice). Beyond that, a water dish, and a thawed-out frozen rat once every week or two is all they needs. Cage only needs cleaning a couple times a week as well.

Bare minimum, you spend 30 to 40 on the thermostat, 20 on a heat pad, and 15 on a big tupperware bin with little padlocks on it. <lol>

I have set up pages for the babies. Normals are here: http://eclipseexotics.wingedwolfpsion.com/normalballs.html
Pastels are here: http://eclipseexotics.wingedwolfpsion.com/pastelballs.html

quick question, basically the way their body works is if you spread out their meals they don't grow as fast, and the more you feed them the faster they grow? (don't over feed them though). i was just curious because don't they eat less often then we would feed them when they are out in the wild? I'm probably wrong but i was just wondering.

secondly is there a place where you can nab some of those rats or mice they eat? i'd rather breed them living mice/rats, i figure they probably like to at least pretend to hunt their food, lol.

NoMad--up to a certain point, but they need a minimum amount of food to grow in a healthy fashion, and too MUCH food too fast will result in a fat snake and other growth problems. Fat isn't good for snakes any more than it is for any other animal. Baby snakes fed TOO much develop 'pinhead syndrome'--their body grows faster than their head.

Baby snakes should be fed a food item about as big around as they are at least once a week until they are 4 years old, then, for ball pythons, their feeding can be reduced to one item every 2 weeks. Monitoring their weight is a good idea to be sure they will only slowly gain weight on their maintenance diet. Reptiles continue to grow very slowly over the course of their life once they reach adulthood.

Feeding pre-killed or f/t rodents is the wisest choice. A live rodent can seriously injure a snake in the confines of a cage, so feeding live is the least desireable choice for captive snakes. You can purchase f/t rodents online in bulk, and save a lot of money. The snakes will hunt and 'kill' dead rodents just fine if you offer them on tongs and wiggle them a little. lol
These are pet snakes, not wild--a wild snake can flee from an aggressive rodent if it isn't hungry, and has more room to maneuver generally. Wild snakes have to put up with parasites, bites, and other injuries, as other wild animals do--our pets don't, they rely on us to take care of them. A rodent bite can easily become infected and require vet treatment, so it's wisest to avoid the possibility if you can.
NEVER, ever leave a live rodent in with a snake unattended. If the snake decides not to eat the rodent, the rodent can turn the tables and kill the snake. Snakes will not defend themselves from aggressive rodents by killing the rodent--their instinct is to try to flee.

Not to be off-topic too much, but "Pinhead syndrome?"

And she had to leave for the week :(

Scary snake, it could probably eat me...

Especially if I used to work in a meat processing plant....

I meant pinhead left, and she still dosen't know there is a syndrome that has the same nick as her...

And it could eat me ,"Especially if I used to work in a meat processing plant"

Used to, as in someone did, but got ground up accidentally, and got eaten by the snake, hyphothetical case.

Get it now?

Sorry, OOT

Four of the babies took their first meal tonight. Yay! ^_^
4 down, 22 to go. (13 still need to shed before they will think about eating--they look much nicer after they shed out, so I will photograph them then).

*looks longingly at the baby pythons* I think it's illegal to ship live animals into australia... plus I'd need a zoology degree to own one *sigh*

Yeah, I'm afraid so--Australia has closed borders to a lot of animals. It's not surprising why, they've had such bad luck with introduced species wreaking havoc over there (cane toads, rats and mice, cats, foxes).
But what you DO have over there are some animals _I_ would love to have. Along the North coast of Australia you have a beautiful little animal known as an Irian Jaya carpet python. They stay under 8 feet, are semi-arboreal, and gorgeous. We can't get Irian Jayas from the mainland, but they have been imported from the island, so we have CBB Irian Jayas available over here now.
I'm hoping to get a pair of them in a few years. http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Snake,26.jpg

Here's another snake I think is beautiful and worth the hassle, and can never have (but you probably can):

While I somewhat mourn that some animals won't be available here, I respect Australia's laws...they're truly necessary to protect its unique wildlife.

I don't like black market animals... Thats something I'd never do to get one...

Not even a Zorillia.
