View Full Version : research department suggestion
It's like we have a department that we don't use. :)
I think we should organize a list of links to other sites that have information such as neuroscience and let outsiders do the research and ask if they send their results back to the guild.
I think known fact and theories should be clearly seperated on this list so there can be experiments to prove their correctness.
(scientific method says that the theory of gravity is only a theory, anything can be proven wrong [i believe quantum physics altered it])
Side note: Also the only way i would donate money to the guild is if it were to become a nonprofit organizations reconized by the U.S. government. and no one's job very secure.
But i do highly believe their should be something like information about neuroscience on or linked from the research page.

Good ideas dark, but once again, having research done requires funds, i.e. contributing...
Now, I would also like to see some research being done in regards to measuring levels of electrostatic charges, increases in heat, and in relation to an article posted, how much light is emitted from specific areas, such as the hands and forehead, weight measurements, statistical probability stuff and other research projects which use our current method of scientific analysis. We need hypothesis' and resources to gather data surrounding what we think will happen, and what actually does happen. I would love to see some results of being hooked up with electrodes at certain areas of the body and seeing a skilled Psion generate energy at specificly chosen nodes. This alone would validate that the flow of nervous system energy can be directed and increased by thought alone. Then, moving on to validate the occurances and correlations between thought and temperature increases in objects not held by a Psion.
At this point, and maybe as long as we perceive reality the way we do, all of our information that we obtain is theorhetical. Nothing is proven to be wrong or right in any way. All knowledge is founded upon correlation between things that we perceive to happen. They may not be actually happening the way that we perceive them, but they are still happening in accordance to a specific set of physical laws.
But, not everything is so scientific. There are things that cannot be accounted for with our current models, so we have to theorize and philosophize about what is going on.
Do the chemical reactions spur the thought, or does the thought spur the movement of chemical reactions? Certainly there have been studies correlating certain chemical reactions in the brain to certain states of mind, but still does not prove that thoughts are the product of chemical reactions, or the other way around. This is where intuition plays a part in figuring out what works and what doesn't. If you don't know the answer to something, you have a choice to either disregard your feelings and act upon previous knowledge of the subject obtained through regular physical records which you develop over a certain time frame, or, you can act upon your feelings of what is right. My personal feeling is that intuition comes from the heart chakra, which includes the most important mechanisms of life (respiration and circulation). This chakra, or wheel of light energy is the connection point between higher and lower realms( lower being material processing organs, reproduction organs and waste removal systems and higher being the vocal system, perceptive organs and thought processing center)
In order for any system to be maintained, there has to be balance within it, or it will not work, just like the mechanics of an internal combustion engine. This is why it makes sense to me that the heart chakra is the central connection to the higher frequency patterns of the energetic bodies that surround the dense physical body. These less dense patterns exist in different dimensions, or frequencies, so they experience other dimensions of thought and knowledge which could be much more quick and accurate than doing things on this level. Since specific feelings arise from this central hub connection area, the other levels of yourself may know more than you do about what is happening.
This is an example of something that modern science has no way to measure, however, these complex beleifs have been held by people over time in various religions. Of course, I have used different language to describe the beleifs, but it is still the same aspect of reality that people are able to experience through meditation, self-discipline, or religious practice.
There is way more out there that we can reach, but we limit ourselves because we refuse to acknowledge the tools which do not exactly exist right in front of our eyes.
We would be relying heavily on outsiders to do the work. The "electrodes" your reffering to probably come from an EEG machine. I don't think anyone here knows how to use an EEG machine, or any other similar device. If you want an EEG study to be done we would definitly need outside help.
(And I really don't trust the guild with an EEG type machine)
I can make sense of some of the rest and can't think of a response to it right now.

You dont trust the guild with an EEG type machine?
:?
Why not?

I actually am trained in using an EEG machine. Also an EKG, various models of BP monitor, retinal movement mappers, and various other lab technology.
The electrodes used in EEGs are not part of the unit, they are disposable and quite expensive. Even taking the cheapest route possible, and buying base models and applying our own electrode conductive gel, the operation would be quite expensive.
Research requires funding. Furthermore, institutions with the necessary means to research would not so willingly cede their findings into the public domain, especially in breakthrough research.
Honestly, it would be cheaper to do it ourselves.

That is why i said that I would only contribute money (if i had it) to a nonprofit. There seem to be problems with internal politics and unwillingness to change here, I think the EEG machine would become a victim of that. And I believe a non profit organization doesn't have to pay taxes (but need to check). Once the tests are performed they can be put on something like wikisource so they remain under GNU freedoc liscense.
(Also where could you find information on operating this equipment that you mention, I just started looking into this stuff but it seems information will be hard to find)

Please, feel free to drift down to rants, and explain where you see unwillingness to change or internal politics.
After all, if there's something to improve, we should know about it....

We are a nonprofit organization, but we haven't incorporated yet. Further, any objective research would be apolitical. I can assure you any research which I will be a part of will be objective and accurate. I have no strong opinions which I need to hold on to.
Back to the orginal subject, what are we going to do with the research section? Just finding a list of books or links to research would be suitable for now.
