Music could have somewhat of an affect on psi abilities and the like, I think. I was talking to WingedWolf about this last night, and her explanation was that music triggers an emotional response, which causes the generation of energy.
Somehow, though, I've found that certain songs actually are more specific, and are more like "modifiers": enhancing certain aspects of what someone can actually do. For example: The Reanimation remix of One Step Closer by Linkin Park (1stp Klosr on the CD) seems to increase my offensive capability, especially while Jon Davis is singing his part of it.
Some might also even be picked up and interpreted as battle tactics. Again for example, either Twisted Transistor or Liar (I can't remember which) seemed to be picked up as a set of tactics that went something like "charge (energy), attack, dodge, dodge again, charge..."
Empathy might have something to do with it as well, but that goes with the "triggering emotions which charges energy" thing...
I dunno, though, that's just my theory.
(And yes, Korn is one of my favorite bands, that's why I use them as an example :D)
