How did the psi-abilities chart come about?

I looked at all the other sections and am pretty sure that this doesn't go anywhere else, though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I was just wondering where the psi-abilities chart (the chart that says which nerve cluster relates to which ability) came from, or rather: What research led to that conclusion?

I have some other questions about it specifically.

1. Were people without knowledge of the chart known to project energy from specific areas when using specific abilities, perhaps without even knowing that they were doing it?

2. Were people in general known to have greater success with a specific ability when they specifically focused on projecting energy from a certain area?

Both #1 and #2.

We took a survey, and asked where they felt anything when they performed ability X. After the survey we tested it, and foundd out whicch ones performed best when they tryed to perform a given ability.
