Psion Guild Chapter Houses

The Psion Guild structure is as follows: All houses answer to the Main House. The Main House keeps copies of all records from all houses, handles membership applications, and serves as a primary information center.

In addition the Main House there will be Territorial Chapter Houses. These are houses founded, one per country, to deal with individuals in those countries on a more personal basis. Because the Main House is an English language-speaking organization, Territorial Chapter Houses can serve as translators (both ways) to make sure that information passes back and forth between the Main House and non-English-speaking members smoothly. They also serve as bases to deal with local issues, provide local teachers (as some individuals have difficulty working psi over vast distances), and simply to provide a tangible presence in those countries.

To form a Territorial Chapter House, one need merely be willing to take on the large responsiblity and work that it entails, and hold to the Guild Code of Conduct. (Once open for membership, you must also be a member of the Guild). You must also have reliable internet access, as you will need to create a website to represent your country's Chapter House on the web. If you are not from an English-speaking country, it is necessary that you be bilingual, or have someone willing to work in your House who speaks and writes English. Translation programs would probably make a complete hash of many of the terms likely to be passed back in forth within documents.

Underneath Territorial Chapter Houses, Regional Chapter Houses may be formed. A Regional Chapter House serves to provide a physical presence for the Guild in a limited area. To form a Regional Chapter House, you need to have 5 persons willing to participate in it, and of course all must hold to the Guild Code of Conduct. (Once open for membership, all must be members). The largest area a Regional Chapter House should represent is a state, province, or similar sub-section of a country. If two groups wish to form Regional Chapter houses within a state, province, etc., then they will split that area between them.

Unlike Territorial Chapter Houses, Regional Chapter Houses do not necesssarily have to have reliable internet access. They must, however, remain in contact with their Territorial Chapter House. It is recommended that the Territorial Chapter House maintain a simple, single-page presence online for Regional Chapter Houses which are unable to maintain their own Web presence.

The benefit of a Regional Chapter House is that it allows in-person interactions for members, and the potential for face-to-face training of students, research, and other Guild functions.

A Territorial Chapter House may have a dual function as a Regional Chapter House.
